Update On A Future WWE WrestleMania Potentially Taking Place In Ireland

WWE WrestleMania taking place in the Republic of Ireland is considered a "long-term project" according to those close to the proposal around convincing WWE to bring the company's biggest show to Ireland.

Fightful Select's Corey Brennan has reported that in addition to it being considered a "long-term project", those around the idea believe it can be achieved if the Irish government views Ireland as a "global sporting hub." However, the expectation is Ireland would need to at least match the $6 million site fee that WWE received from Las Vegas for holding WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium. Such an amount of money was considered a major roadblock to WrestleMania actually airing from the Republic of Ireland within the Irish wrestling scene, while the Irish weather was also considered an issue due to Croke Park - the biggest stadium in the country - not having a roof.

Talk of WrestleMania emanating from Ireland emerged after Kilkenny councillor Maurice Shortall claimed to the Irish Mirror that Ireland was well placed to host WWE's biggest show of the year.

Shortall said:

"As a globally recognised event with the capacity to attract tens of thousands of international visitors and generate substantial international media exposure, WrestleMania presents a significant opportunity for Ireland to strengthen its position as a leading destination for major event tourism.

"The wider regional benefit to counties such as Kilkenny would be substantial, with strong potential for tourism spillover, increased domestic travel, and enhanced international visibility for Ireland’s secondary tourism destinations.

"Ireland is well placed to present a credible and competitive bid for WrestleMania, given our strong international tourism brand, proven track record in hosting major events, and global reputation as a welcoming destination."

Since the event's creation in 1985, WrestleMania has taken place exclusively in North America, although that is scheduled to change in 2027 when WrestleMania 43 is held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
