TNA Wrestling's parent company Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions (AWE), itself a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment, has filed a lawsuit against Gail Kim, PWInsider has reported.

The lawsuit was filed on January 10 before the Nashville Chancery Court and Anthem has alleged that Gail Kim's former contract with Anthem means that all issues between the two parties should be governed by Tennessee law. The lawsuit was filed as Kim informed Anthem after she was let go from TNA that she holds legal claims against AWE under the "Florida Private Whistleblower Act, the Florida Civil Rights Act, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964." The alleged violations were not listed in Anthem's lawsuit.

Within the lawsuit, Anthem have stated they and Gail Kim entered into a services agreement contract in September 2022 which included talent relations, match production, and Kim working as a performer. Anthem have also claimed that Kim agreed to "identify and support new revenue, business, and growth opportunities for AWE." The agreement expired at the end of 2024, but the two parties agreed to continue working together on a month-to-month basis.

Kim was also allegedly subject to a booking agreement that categorised her as an independent contractor. This allowed her to provide wrestling and other entertainment services to "other customers", although certain limitations were in place, including an agreement that she not provide wrestling services to any of TNA's competitors. The booking agreement also allegedly meant Kim didn't receive any employee benefit plans, which included but was not limited to a pension plan, profit-sharing, medical cover, dental cover, workers' compensation, occupational injury, life insurance, and vacation and sick benefits.

As Kim was an independent contractor, Anthem have claimed she does not have any "legally cognizable claims" based on Florida law. Anthem have requested that the court declare that all disputes between the two sides be governed by Tennessee law and for the court to declare that Kim was an independent contractor, which would negate any claims that Kim has allegedly "threatened" to bring against Anthem. The organisation are also seeking attorneys' fees and court costs

Gail Kim had been a part of TNA Wrestling across several runs since 2005, and she had worked as a producer and in talent relations during her final years with the promotion. She was fired in March 2025 as part of a backstage shake-up that saw the likes of Ariel Shnerer, Rob Klingman, Michael Shewchenko, Rafael Morffi, Karen Clevett, Sebastian Dastranj, and Romy Glazer all exit TNA.

Kim has remained involved in pro wrestling since her exit, drawing criticism in 2025 after she criticised the presentation of AEW wrestler Riho. Kim revealed in December 2025 that she declined an offer from WWE.
