TNA held their Emergence event last night, emanating from the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland on August 15. The show saw major titles on the line, careers come to an end, and TNA announcing a new deal for certain Knockouts division members.
The main event of the evening featured TNA World Heavyweight Champion Trick Williams going up against Moose, trying to dodge and avoid attacks from the dominant challenger in the early going. Williams suffered a flurry of chops, and even got thrown into the crowd. Williams managed to find some counters here and there with an overhead belly to belly suplex that sent Moose into the turnbuckle. The crowd were back and forth for both men as they battled with big shots, major moves, and intensity, trading some near-falls too. The end of the match saw the two trade suplexes until Moose nailed a big spear, only for Williams to roll out of the ring. The referee was soon inadvertently hit with a clothesline, so a second Moose spear had no one to make the count. It would take three Trick Shots for Williams after he recovered to keep Moose down and retain the title.
The other notable headline from the night came as Mike Santana defeated Sami Callihan, ending the latter’s career in TNA. After a back and forth Street Fight, Santana kept Callihan down, who left his boots in the ring after promising to retire if he lost the bout. Also on the show, it was announced that Lei Ying Lee had signed a new TNA deal.
It has been a busy week for TNA, with news emerging of a potential move to Wednesday nights to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite, and reports of a potential new contender in the sale of the company, not to mention an option for WWE to buy TNA included in their current working relationship deal being revealed.
