Rumour Killer On Mercedes Moné Having Creative Control

Mercedes Moné’s time in All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling has been a dominant gold-laden affair, with some wondering if Moné has creative control to avoid losing wrestling matches.

Such clauses have existed in wrestling history - Hulk Hogan in WCW being the most infamous example - but per a report from Fightful Select, such accusations with regards to Moné are wide of the mark, with sources in both AEW and NJPW insisting there is no such clause, with one source stating, "she hasn’t turned down losing, because losing hasn't even been broached. Both companies had plans to push her heavily."

Moné currently stands as the AEW TBS Champion, NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion, and RevPro Undisputed British Women's Champion. Coupled with the ‘CEO’s character and presentation, it is easy to see how such allegations could be made. Moné even said herself she had such control, but this is being chalked up as an in-character statement.

Moné’s last singles loss came at the hands of Willow Nightingale in a New Japan ring in May 2023. Although Moné was scheduled to win the bout, a mid-match injury saw Moné change the finish on the fly, with a source noting this when talking to Fightful, pointing to it as an example of Moné taking a loss.
