Friday Night SmackDown may not be moving back to two hours as quickly as expected.

SmackDown officially became a three-hour programme from January 3, 2025 with the show airing on USA Network in the United States and Netflix internationally. WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H noted at the time, however, that SmackDown being three hours was only temporary and the show would eventually transition back to two hours.

There have been reports for months that SmackDown would switch back to two hours at some point in June, with Friday, June 6 being mentioned as a possible date for the series to carry out the change.

In an update, however, PWInsider has reported that SmackDown episodes in early June are internally listed within USA Network to be three hours. This would suggest that SmackDown will remain a three-hour programme beyond June 6.

Since the show debuted in April 1999, SmackDown has traditionally been a two-hour series. The show airing over three hours has received mixed reviews from fans.
