While the spot ultimately went to Max Caster, TNA Wrestling originally wanted Sheamus to answer Moose's open challenge at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view.

False Finish has reported that Sheamus was the "primary name" considered to face Moose at Bound for Glory. There is no word on whether TNA and Sheamus (real name Stephen Farrelly) held any talks.

Sheamus has been a free agent since his WWE contract expired on October 1, which ended the 48-year-old's time with the company after 19 years. Sheamus' exit had been known about since July, with the multi-time world champion rejecting a restructured contract offer that would have included a pay cut.

Sheamus' next destination in pro wrestling is unknown. AEW are expected to be interested in Sheamus, though, and wrestlers in the promotion have reportedly pushed for All Elite Wrestling to sign Sheamus. Any deal may not be imminent, however, as Sheamus is currently advertised to headline The Big Event Entertainment and Sports Expo in Brentwood, New York, on November 14, which is the same day as AEW's Full Gear pay-per-view in Phoenix, Arizona.

Max Caster being the substitute for Sheamus didn't quite go to plan as TNA have already severed ties with the former AEW World Tag Team Champion after he referenced airstrikes against Saudi Arabia's Riyadh airport in his pre-match rap.
