Reportedly the reason for recent firings in TNA Wrestling is that the promotion is still not turning a profit.
TNA carried out what they described as a "workforce reduction" in mid-June, with it being announced that Tommy Dreamer had parted ways with the promotion, while former TNA World Champion and backstage producer Sami Callihan was fired, and heavy cuts were carried out within TNA's production team.
The cuts reportedly led to people within TNA questioning how much the promotion's AMC TV deal for Thursday Night IMPACT was worth if people were still being let go. Dave Meltzer has now reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that even with the new TV deal in the United States with AMC, TNA are still losing money, which led to the company carrying out cost-cutting.
TNA Thursday Night IMPACT has aired on AMC in the United States since January 15, 2026 as part of a multi-year deal. The value of the deal has yet to be revealed, but it was reported while TNA were negotiating for a new TV deal in 2025 that the promotion was looking to secure a deal worth between $7 million and $10 million per year.
There had been rumours on X/Twitter that Anthem were open to selling TNA. WWE reportedly hold a right of first refusal on purchasing TNA, while Tony Khan has ruled out bidding for TNA if the price is $40 million.
