Report: Kevin Knight May Not Have Been Keen On How His AEW Heel Turn Happened

Kevin Knight may not have been too keen on how his heel turn played out within All Elite Wrestling at May's Double or Nothing pay-per-view, with it being claimed that he wanted his JetSpeed tag team with "Speedball" Mike Bailey to accomplish more first before a turn.

That is according to Sean Ross Sapp, who stated on Fightful's The Hump:

"Based on what I heard, it didn't seem like he was keen on how the turn happened or all that. There was definitely a different vision. I had heard he wanted the Speedball team to accomplish something first."

Kevin Knight turned heel in the closing moments of AEW Double or Nothing when he stunned the fans in attendance by hitting Darby Allin, who was on a stretcher after his AEW World Title loss to MJF, with the UFO splash. Knight then split up JetSpeed and quickly joined the Don Callis Family, booking decisions which received criticism from AEW fans due to the sheer number of members already in the DCF.

Knight has continued to be pushed following his heel turn, recently setting the record for the most championship defences during a single TNT Title reign. He will also challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at the Redemption pay-per-view and AEW CEO Tony Khan expressed on the pre-PPV media call how high he is on Knight.

"I have a lot of confidence in Kevin Knight as one of the top stars going forward in AEW. I really believe in The Jet. I think he's a tremendous athlete and he absolutely has had a very quick rise to become a multiple-time world trios champion, and now the TNT Champion, and potentially within days the AEW World Champion. It is a very quick rise, but again, it’s not unprecedented to have somebody come in as a free agent and rise very quickly," Khan said.
