After two months away from WWE TV, Bayley made her return on the September 7 edition of Monday Night Raw, costing Lyra Valkyria the win in her Money in the Bank qualifier against Sol Ruca and Maxxine Dupri. Bayley then attacked her former tag team partner after the match, with Valkyria having written Bayley off TV at the July 18 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event.

Following Bayley's return, it was reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that the former WWE Women's Champion had signed a new deal with the company, but a conflicting report has since emerged from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, who noted that WWE and Bayley haven't even held talks over a new contract. The two sides have reportedly not spoken about a new deal due to how much time Bayley has left on her current contract.

It was reported earlier this summer that Bayley's WWE contract may not expire until at least January 2027. Speculation has been rife about Bayley's future, though, with the 37-year-old expected to have interest from both WWE and AEW, although reports in the days before her return noted that Bayley was believed to have put pen to paper on a new contract with WWE.
