Becky Lynch created controversy on the August 25 edition of Monday Night Raw from Birmingham, England as she used Ozzy Osbourne's recent passing to generate heel heat in a promo confrontation with Nikki Bella.

While setting up their Women's Intercontinental Title match for Clash in Paris, Lynch said: "You can have your match, but in Paris at Clash, because I'm not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing that came out of here died a month ago. But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I'd die too."

The promo prompted a furious response from Ozzy's daughter Kelly Osbourne, who wrote on Instagram: "@beckylynch.fanll you are a disrespectful dirtbag! Birmingham would not p*ss on you if you were on fire. #birminghamforever shame on the @wwe for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!"

Bryan Alvarez has reported on Wrestling Observer Live that WWE are embarrassed about the situation and are considering either a public or private apology.

"I was told WWE is embarrassed, and they're probably gonna do an apology. They may not, but if you look back at how many times WWE has actually apologised for something, it ain't many. And there's discussion about doing a public apology. I know they've talked about doing a private apology," Alvarez said.

"I don't even really blame Becky, as I'm sure she didn't come up with it, but she did it. The people don't want to boo Becky. She really wants to be booed for whatever reason. I guess maybe it's fun. Probably isn't fun today."

Ricochet Originally Planned For The Hurt Syndicate

MVP has revealed on his Marking Out podcast that Ricochet was originally planned to be a member of the Hurt Syndicate in AEW along with himself, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.

"Because Cedric was still under contract, we were coming over, and at the time you were still negotiating, there were a lot of pieces. We're like, 'Okay, we're gonna reunite and Ricochet's gonna have that spot, but in our business, we have the saying: card subject to change. We did that spot in the ring with Bobby when he snatched you up, and that was supposed to have been like, where we start initiating Ricochet and where his character changes. He goes, and he becomes, 'I hurt people,' but as things sometimes happen organically, his career path went a completely different way, and selfishly, like I wanted him in the Hurt Syndicate, but I dare say things worked out better for you as they are," MVP said.

Ricochet has cemented himself as one of the top stars in AEW without being affiliated with the Hurt Syndicate. He did kick off a feud with the faction at Forbidden Door, though, as he and Gates of Agony cost Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin the AEW World Tag Team Titles.

Heavy Scepticism Within AAA Over Nick Khan's Triplemania Speech
Nick Khan on BT Sport

WWE and Fillip are now the official owners of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, and Triplemania XXXIII was the first event since the acquisition was completed earlier this month.

WWE President Nick Khan gave a speech backstage at Triplemania and noted to talents they wouldn't be looking to change the promotion and that it would still be AAA.

Khan's speech was met with heavy scepticism but not disdain within AAA, Fightful Select has reported. Those in the company noted they feel WWE clearly planted their flag, and WWE's heavy influence was on display at Triplemania.

Despite the scepticism, no one that Fightful spoke to expressed that they had any issues with Khan's speech or the changes WWE have made to AAA.
