Possible Spoiler For Gunther Vs. CM Punk At WWE SummerSlam 2025

One of WWE's top stars could be set to take time off in the near future.

The main event of WWE SummerSlam night one from MetLife Stadium will see CM Punk challenge Gunther for the the World Heavyweight Championship. This will be CM Punk's first time challenging for the new version of the World Heavyweight Title and the first time he has challenged for the Big Gold Belt since 2010.

Gunther is in his second reign as World Heavyweight Champion, having regained the title from Jey Uso on the June 9 edition of Monday Night Raw. Gunther has been champion for 54 days, but his reign may come to an end at SummerSlam.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Gunther is suffering from a nose issue which may require 'Der Ring General' to take time off. Should Gunther need to take time off, it would make sense for him to lose the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, although if a title change is planned has not been confirmed.
