TNA Wrestling are, once again, going through a tumultuous period in the promotion's history, with several wrestlers having been granted their releases in recent weeks, including Steve Maclin, Tessa Blanchard, and Myla Grace. There has also been what TNA has described as a "workforce reduction" this week, with Tommy Dreamer parting ways with the promotion, while there have been heavy cuts to TNA's production team, and former TNA World Champion and backstage producer Sami Callihan was fired.
PWInsider has reported there are many within TNA who are "really broken-hearted" over the TNA departures this week, and a few people within the promotion have questioned how much money TNA are actually making from the AMC TV deal if the company are letting people go.
TNA and AMC agreed to a multi-year US media rights deal in late 2025 which took effect from the January 15, 2026 episode of Thursday Night IMPACT. TNA's flagship show airs on AMC and AMC+ every Thursday from 9 pm to 11 pm ET.
The exact value of the AMC deal has yet to be confirmed, but it was noted while TNA were negotiating over a landing spot for Thursday Night IMPACT that the Anthem-owned organisation were looking to secure a TV deal worth between $7 million and $10 million per year.
There was positivity around TNA following the AMC announcement, with it being viewed as TNA's biggest deal since the promotion's partnership with Spike ended in 2014. That positivity has been eroded as 2026 has progressed amid releases, firings, and criticism of the promotion's weekly product.
