It has been known for quite some time that WWE’s main event plans for WrestleMania 42 have chopped and changed a whole bunch of times over the last several months thanks to injuries, influence from wrestlers, and even involvement from TKO. Speaking to his son on Instagram, Paul Heyman spoke on the fact that he would not be featured in the main event of WrestleMania this year, revealing original plans in the process.
“Yeah, it pisses me off. I don’t think it’s a big secret that everything was driving this year to be Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns, and then that fell apart. Then it was going to be Bron Breakker vs. CM Punk, and that fell apart. I was in line to be part of the main event this year, but fate intervened not once but even twice. I’d be less than candid if I didn’t admit that I take great pride in the fact that the most heavily anticipated match this yes is what I call the real main event of WrestleMania: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi, but history won’t record that as the main event.”
Injuries came into play involving the likes of Rollins and Breakker, though Rollins managed to return on the road to WrestleMania, and there have been rumors of Breakker being cleared by WWE, though he has yet to return.
