Original Plans For Haku's WWE Return Revealed

Talla Tonga has revealed how his father, Haku, ended up returning to WWE programming, noting that it was a company idea that became solidified shortly before the hardest man in pro wrestling made his comeback.

"It came through Tama first. They had the idea, passed it onto Tama and then passed it on to me. I want to say around SummerSlam, that's when it became solidified. That's when my dad started calling like, 'Hey, I just got hit up, I got a flight coming out.' I was like, 'Oh, shoot, so it's serious then.' It was around that time. There had been spread of it before, maybe a week or two after we split from Solo there was probably word of it. But, you know how it is, you hear a word and you don't really trust it, you just go week by week. You see what happens week by week," Tonga said on Cheap Heat Radio.

Haku aligned with his sons on the go-home episode of Friday Night SmackDown before SummerSlam on July 31, but Talla revealed the debut was originally planned for July 24.

"Even then, we were in San Francisco [Oakland] and he was supposed to debut then. Then they pushed it back to the week of SummerSlam. So he was with us for two weeks, those first two weeks before SummerSlam. You know how it is, everything comes last minute and you just go with it," Talla added.

Haku's inclusion has led to a renewed push for Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga as The MFTs, with the Tongans winning the WWE Tag Team Championships on the August 14 episode of SmackDown in a Triple Threat with then-champions Damian Priest & R-Truth and The War Raiders. Tama and Talla successfully defended the belts against R-Truth and Damian Priest on August 21.
