Kota Ibushi was stretchered out of the arena during Wednesday night's taping of AEW Collision as the 43-year-old suffered an injury that looks set to put him out of action for at least several months.

Ibushi faced Josh Alexander in the opening contest of the Collision taping in Jacksonville, Florida. Fans in attendance noted that Ibushi's leg gave out, though, and he fell from the top rope to the outside. The referee then quickly counted out Ibushi to end the match, and the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was taken to a local hospital soon after.

PWInsider has reported that the talk backstage within AEW is that Ibushi suffered a broken femur. At the very least, the injury will keep the Golden Star out of action for several months.

Ibushi has suffered from a multitude of injuries since he sustained a serious shoulder injury in the G1 Climax 31 final in 2021. Ibushi spent 18 months out of action as a result of that injury, and he was out of action for several months in 2024 after wrestling with an already broken ankle and hand for Pro Wrestling NOAH, worsening the injuries in the process.

Ibushi made his return to AEW in June 2025 and signed a new two-year deal with the promotion in August.
