Matt Cardona's Real-Life Reaction To John Cena's WWE SmackDown Name-Drop Revealed

On this past Friday's episode of SmackDown, John Cena put CM Punk through a table and gave his version of a 'pipe bomb' promo, mirroring a scene from when the two men were feuding 13 years ago (albeit with the roles reversed).

During the promo, Cena referenced Claudio Castagnoli (FKA Cesaro), Nic Nemeth (FKA Dolph Ziggler), and Matt Cardona (FKA Zack Ryder). According to Cardona's wife and current WWE star Chelsea Green, the Indy God was flustered when she initially informed him about the promo.

During a Fanatics Live signing, Green said:

"He's (Matt Cardona) chronically online. He never, ever, ever leaves his phone. He happened to be wrestling (when John Cena was delivering his version of the pipe bomb) so he wasn't online, didn't know. I got to break the news to him. Yeah! Rare occurrence... So, I got to tell him and he was so flustered. He's like, 'Well, I don't understand'. 'Just go watch it.'"

Cardona has since reacted to the promo several times, including saying "Hey John Cena" on the microphone during a GCW show.

Cardona recently revealed that he had pitched a GCW match to John Cena, an idea that was quickly rejected.
