Liv Morgan is set to take a break from WWE, with the former WWE Women’s Champion set to star in a major movie project.
Reports this week were at pains to say that Morgan was not starring in a superhero movie, and that is indeed the case, with Morgan set to star in Takashi Miike’s upcoming Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo alongside Godzilla vs. Kong’s Shun Oguri, and Lily James.
Miike is best known for his work in Japanese extreme cinema, having helmed cult classics Audition and Ichi the Killer in the 2000s. Morgan landing such a high-profile role with an acclaimed director has led some to believe Morgan could be ‘cemented’ as the next breakout star in Hollywood.
Speaking on the upcoming project, director Miike shared the following:
“A team of incredibly talented actors and crew has gathered in Tokyo. Now. I’m about to throw a fastball straight down the middle of your strike zone – no tricks, no gimmicks. I’m confident we are about to break through every limit, to create unforgettable entertainment. Get ready for the ride with us,” Miike told Deadline.
Miike will be the third director to bring their vision to the Bad Lieutenant IP, with the 1992 original helmed by Abel Ferrara with Harvey Keitel in the lead role, whilst 2009’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was directed by Werner Herzog with Nicolas Cage taking top billing.
