Talk has been circulating for years at this point about the prospect of ‘NXT Europe’. WWE’s venture into Europe was halted back in 2020 by the pandemic, with the future of this project being up in the air ever since. Earlier this year, Triple H claimed that the plans would still be going ahead at some point in the future.

Fightful Select have provided some details on the current status of NXT Europe, in addition to some reactions to the idea of WWE bringing a developmental brand to the continent from those on the independent scene. It is noted that those on the scene have been told that NXT Europe is “still coming”, though with no indication over where and when this would be the case. There were recent tryouts and signings from the UK, though Fightful has noted that thus far there is no indication that these had anything to do with NXT Europe.

When it comes to promoters across Europe, there is some apprehension about WWE signing up talent, though the belief from others is that it won’t be damaging, and new stars will continue to develop, much like they did after the launch of NXT UK. There is positivity from certain talent too, who believe NXT Europe will put more money in the pockets of wrestlers and European stars will have more of a chance to shine on a grander level. This positivity also comes with some worry from others, particularly those on the French independent circuit, who believe that the loss of big stars could damage a territory that is currently gaining a lot of momentum. In terms of NXT Europe overall, both former NXT UK talents and those currently on the independent scene have a “believe it when they see it” mindset.
