WWE sort of went head-to-head with AEW Full Gear on Saturday night as Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide held their latest Alianzas taping in Mexico City, with much of the taping airing live on WWE's YouTube channel.

During the untelevised part of the show, Lince Dorado held an open challenge which was ultimately answered by Apollo Crews in the former WWE Intercontinental Champion's first match since January 2025. Crews won the match following a gorilla press slam and standing moonsault.

Apollo Crews had been on the shelf since he sustained a torn pectoral muscle during the January 24 episode of Friday Night SmackDown in a match with Johnny Gargano. Crews suffered the injury following a backstabber from Gargano, and he announced shortly after that he would be undergoing surgery.

"Heading into surgery today. A few weeks ago on SmackDown, I tore my pec - an unfortunate situation. Sometimes, you do everything right, but there are just some things beyond your control. I'm looking forward to the road ahead, attacking it with a positive and unstoppable mindset. And enjoy my clean shave! It has been a while since I have seen this baby face!" Crews wrote.

Apollo Crews has been a part of WWE since 2015 and has been featured on the main roster since 2016. In addition to his Intercontinental Title reign, Crews is also a former WWE United States Champion.
