El Grande Americano has been a featured performer since debuting in March, and plans are in place for Americano to have a major match in WWE or AAA. There is also an update on a potential Lucha Bros reunion, while it has been revealed why AEW decided not to keep Eddie Kingston's return as a surprise.
WWE and AEW rumours for Tuesday, September 16, 2025:
El Grande Americano has been prominently featured across WWE programming and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide in recent months, often interfering to assist Dominik Mysterio in matches. This included on Friday, September 12 when Americano helped Mysterio defeat El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at Worlds Collide in Las Vegas.
There are plans to utilise a programme of El Grande Americano vs. El Hijo del Vikingo, with BodySlam reporting that the two talents are expected to have a match against each other at some point. If the match will be in AAA or WWE is unknown.
Rey Fenix and Penta have been kept apart in WWE since they both signed with the company and it appears there will be no Lucha Bros reunion in the near future.
BodySlam has reported that a Lucha Bros reunion has been discussed within WWE but "nothing is confirmed or imminent as of right now."
Penta has been utilised as a singles talent, while Rey Fenix had been teaming with Andrade prior to Andrade's suspension and subsequent release. Plans were in place for Fenix and Andrade to team together against the Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Titles at Clash in Paris. BodySlam has noted that Fenix and Andrade were even planned to win the titles at some point.
Tiffany Stratton was scheduled to be in action on Tuesday night's NXT Homecoming episode, but the WWE Women's Champion has been replaced in her match by Lyra Valkyria, with NXT General Manager Ava announcing that Stratton is not medically cleared.
"After her WWE Women’s Championship Match on SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton is not medically cleared to compete at Homecoming. As a result, former NXT Women's Champion Lyra Valkyria will be taking her place in the six-woman tag team match against Fatal Influence," Ava tweeted.
Bryan Alvarez has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Stratton was likely injured on the moonsault to the outside in the WWE Women's Title match against Jade Cargill which saw Stratton hit her head off the floor.
Eddie Kingston had been out of action for over a year, but it was confirmed on Saturday's episode of Collision that the former AEW Continental Champion will make his in-ring return at All Out against Big Bill.
Fightful Select reported that All Elite Wrestling decided not to keep Kingston's return as a surprise simply because the promotion wanted to use it to promote the event and generate buzz for All Out.
Cody Rhodes was recently in Australia on the set of Street Fighter, filming his part for the movie as Guile. Fightful Select has reported that some who worked on the set with Cody spoke glowingly of the WWE Champion.
Rhodes may have also helped a former colleague land a role in the movie too, as it was indicated that Hirooki Goto may have received his own part in Street Fighter after Cody put in a good word to help make it happen.
