The date for John Cena’s WWE retirement match has been set, with Cena set to end his in-ring career at the end of 2025 after a highly publicised retirement tour.
Recent reports suggested WWE were set to air Cena’s retirement up against All Elite Wrestling’s Worlds End show on December 27, but it seems like that idea has been nixed, with WWE set to have Cena bow out on Saturday Night’s Main Event in Boston on December 13.
Whilst chatter about going head-to-head with AEW was rife, it was noted that original plans were for Cena to retire in his home state on December 13, and it seems that the original plans have been ratified.
News of Cena’s retirement match was formally announced by WWE whilst also announcing that Saturday Night’s Main Event will be a Peacock exclusive moving forward, having previously aired on both Peacock and NBC.
Cena is next set to be in action against Logan Paul at WWE Clash in Paris on August 31, with a last time singles match against old rival Brock Lesnar expected to take place at WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20 - directly against AEW All Out.
