Danhausen's Debut Quietly Compared To The Gobbledy Gooker Within WWE

Danhausen made his WWE debut at the 2026 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view and his first appearance is already being compared to one of the most infamous debuts in company history.

Danhausen was revealed to be inside the box that appeared at Raw and SmackDown in recent weeks, with the former AEW talent making his way to the ring alongside several female dancers in Danhausen face paint. There was an initial pop inside the United Center at Elimination Chamber for the Danhausen reveal, but fans quickly turned against the segment, first with silence and then with boos once it was over.

Danhausen's debut quickly drew comparisons to The Gobbledy Gooker at Survivor Series 1990, and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported those comparisons were quietly being made within WWE backstage at Elimination Chamber.

The Gobbledy Gooker's debut remains one of the worst in WWE history. The angle saw a giant egg appear at shows in the weeks leading up to Survivor Series 1990, when the egg would hatch. When the egg did hatch, The Gobbledy Gooker was promptly met with jeers and boos, and the turkey character was dropped within weeks of Hector Guerrero's debut in the costume.
