Changes are planned for Cody Rhodes following his Undisputed WWE Title loss to Drew McIntyre on the January 9 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
According to Cory Hays of BodySlam, Cody is not planned to turn heel, but he will undergo a "character shift" following his loss. The exact nature of how Cody's character will change is unknown, however.
Rhodes dropped the Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre in a Three Stages of Hell match in Berlin, Germany. McIntyre won the match with the accidental help of Jacob Fatu, who returned during the Steel Cage match portion of Three Stages of Hell and attacked both McIntyre and Rhodes, which allowed Drew to escape the cage through the door.
Cody Rhodes looked despondent following his title loss as he first laid out Jacob Fatu before solemnly staring into the distance as SmackDown went off the air.
January 9 ended Cody's second reign as Undisputed WWE Champion after 159 days, having regained the belt from John Cena at SummerSlam. According to reports, both McIntyre and Rhodes actually pitched for the belt to change hands.
