CM Punk’s WWE status has been a hot topic in recent weeks amidst an unexpected absence from WWE programming post-WrestleMania season. Following on from him promising to stick around, Punk has not been seen since the RAW after WrestleMania, prompting rumours of backstage issues and heat with TKO. It might be time to expect Punk back on WWE programming, with him teasing a comeback himself.

During his recent absence, Punk returned to commentary for MMA company CFFC, a role in which he often puts forth subliminal messaging and fun teases. When asked if he’d be at an upcoming CFFC event, Punk questioned whether it was on a Friday, because he couldn’t make it if it so. This follows reports of WWE planning to have CM Punk return on the Friday Night SmackDown brand, making an official move from Monday Night RAW.

Punk also made reference to his current WWE absence, remarking that his “horse was sick”, referencing Terry Funk’s infamous excuse for not showing up at WWE tapings. More reports emerged this week that Punk did have some issues in WWE, though they were not as major as previously made out.
