WWE writer Brian 'Road Dogg' James contemplates something during an episode of WWE Unreal

What WWE talent thought about Road Dogg and how people reacted to his exit within the company has been revealed.

'Road Dogg' Brian James quit WWE earlier this month, with reports revealing that Road Dogg was unhappy within the organisation and his departure came about after he was upset following his annual review. The exit of the former D-Generation X member had been brewing for some time, though.

At the time of his departure, Road Dogg had been working in the company as the co-lead writer of Friday Night SmackDown alongside John Switaka. Outside of a brief spell in 2022, James had been back with WWE in various roles since 2011.

In his creative role, Road Dogg was featured heavily in the WWE: Unreal series on Netflix and his portrayal was negatively received amongst WWE fans. Within WWE, though, he was actually well liked amongst talent, Sean Ross Sapp noted in a Fightful Select Answers Q&A.

While Road Dogg had already expressed some unhappiness, Sean Ross Sapp stated that his exit still resulted in surprise amongst a lot of people within the company.

Road Dogg looks set to be busy following his WWE exit, having already been announced for WrestleCon and other conventions. He will also reunite with New Age Outlaws' tag team partner Billy Gunn later this year at Great Lakes Championship Wrestling Blizzard Brawl on Saturday, December 5.
