Another sign has emerged that suggests Brock Lesnar will retire from professional wrestling in 2026.

In a rare interview, Lesnar appeared on Barstool Sports' Spittin' Chiclets podcast and admitted he is only back in WWE "for a short time."

"Sh*t, I went back to work so I could feed my kids. You guys should see my grocery bill. I had left the company years ago, and I'm grateful that I'm back for a short time here. So I'm really grateful for all the opportunities that I've had in my life," Lesnar said.

Rumours have swirled that Lesnar will retire in 2026 ever since he returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2025. John Cena noted in December 2025 that he believes Lesnar will go "into the sunset" in Minnesota and that Lesnar's retirement "creatively, it's very soon." Reports then noted there had been talk within WWE about Lesnar retiring in 2026, potentially at SummerSlam. The two-night event will be held in Lesnar's hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Since returning to WWE at SummerSlam 2025, Lesnar has only had three matches, defeating John Cena at Wrestlepalooza, emerging on the winning side in WarGames at Survivor Series, and competing in the 2026 men's Royal Rumble match. Lesnar's next match will be at WrestleMania 42 when he goes one-on-one with Oba Femi.
