AJ Lee Still Planned For WWE WrestleMania 42

One of the most notable absences from the 2026 Royal Rumble premium live event was that of AJ Lee, who many fans expected to see show up in the women’s match. AJ Lee returned to WWE in September of 2025, competing in two matches since then, during which time she has feuded with reigning Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch.

At the Rumble, Lynch was eliminated from the match by the revamped Nattie, who has targeted the IC Title too. Despite Lynch’s ongoing storyline with Nattie and Maxxine Dupri, there is still an expectation for AJ Lee to be involved with Lynch at WrestleMania 42. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan for WrestleMania 42 is still to have Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee with the title on the line, so don’t expect Dupri or Nattie to pick up the title any time soon.

This confirms other reports regarding AJ Lee’s WrestleMania plans before the Royal Rumble PLE. Despite a lot of changes being made to the WrestleMania card, this one has been locked in for quite some time.
