With Everest conquered, it is surely only a matter of time before Darby Allin returns to All Elite Wrestling, but fans hoping for a Double or Nothing return for Darby should think again.
Darby was written off AEW TV in December 2024 so he could finally tackle Everest - a year after initially planned - with AEW management originally hoping Darby would be back in time for the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and Double or Nothing on May 25. However, a report from Fightful Select states that AEW are not expecting Darby back for the pay-per-view.
Allin’s last pay-per-view match came at WrestleDream in October 2024, with Darby picking up a singles win over long-term rival Brody King. In early 2024, Darby was set to embark on his original trip to Everest, but suffered a broken foot, delaying the trip for another year. Allin was subsequently hit by a bus.
After reaching the summit of Everest, Allin honoured his original pledge and planted an AEW flag at the top of the mountain.
