Happy Gilmore 2 is set for release on July 25 next week, and it will feature several professional wrestlers including AEW’s MJF and WWE’s Becky Lynch & Nikki Bella. In the movie, MJF played the role of Happy Gilmore’s son, working closely alongside starring actor Adam Sandler.
Speaking in an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Sandler was asked about working with professional wrestlers on the movie, and spoke glowingly about former AEW World Champion MJF, as did Julie Bowen, who was also being interviewed.
“Funny as hell. What a great kid. Love him. Family member. He went and had a match and came back the next day. It was at the Garden, I think…he had some extra bruises. That kid is jacked and he’s a stud. I’m happy to say he’s my fake son forever. I love my fake son. I love him in real life.”
In the lead up to Happy Gilmore’s release, it was reported that WWE had requested a version of the trailer to show that didn’t include AEW’s MJF. On social media, MJF & Becky Lynch traded playful jibes after working with each other on set.
