Ace Austin has departed TNA Wrestling after the expiration of his contract, with the multi-time X-Division Champion entering free agency.
Reports in April suggested the two sides had begun negotiations over a new deal, with TNA hopeful of retaining Austin’s services. However, it seems things did not go to plan for TNA, with PWInsider reporting that Austin’s deal has elapsed with the two sides unable to agree on terms for a new deal.
Writing for Yahoo! Sports, former TNA President Scott D’Amore stated that Austin has exited TNA amicably, with D’Amore suggesting Austin is ready to step up for the next phase of his career and ‘inevitably’ become a massive star in wrestling.
Austin will surely be the focus of a lot of attention from both WWE and All Elite Wrestling, with many having singled Ace out as a future main event star in TNA prior to his departure. Austin’s last TNA match occurred at the May 2 IMPACT TV tapings in California, with Austin taking a loss to Mustafa Ali on his way out.
Initially signing with IMPACT Wrestling in 2019, Ace Austin exits the promotion as a three-time X-Division Champion, three-time TNA World Tag Team Champion (alongside ABC partner Chris Bey), and one-time Super X Cup winner, having lifted the trophy in 2021.
