WWE hasn’t made a huge number of signings in the latter stages of 2025, with only a handful of names such as Joe Hendry being brought into the company in recent months. With a lot of stars currently sitting on the main roster across RAW and SmackDown, an extensive developmental roster, and the ability to use names from the likes of AAA and TNA, it seems as though WWE is not currently interested in bringing him many new names.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has told interested AEW talent that they are not currently hiring. There are no specific details on who this specifically ascertains to, but it is noted that those in AEW who have sent out feelers to WWE to gauge interest have been told that the company is not hiring new people right now. The belief is that WWE’s developmental roster is full of names who are ready for the main roster, so new signings are not needed.
Meltzer does explain that this is not a strict and absolute rule, with exceptions for the likes of Chris Jericho, who is reportedly set to leave AEW and join WWE for a retirement run, and TNA’s Leon Slater, who recently wrestled at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on the show where John Cena retired.
