Tributes to Hulk Hogan have poured in from across the pro wrestling world since the WWE Hall of Famer passed away on Thursday, July 24, but a WWE developmental talent has questioned why Hogan's life has been celebrated.
Taking to Instagram in a since-deleted post, WWE wrestler Jamar Hampton wrote: "Is this really who we should be celebrating? Do ya research."
Hampton also included in the post a transcript of racist remarks made by Hogan in 2007 about his daughter Brooke's then-boyfriend, during which Hogan used the N-word on multiple occasions and said he was racist. The remarks leaked in 2015 and resulted in WWE severing ties with Hogan until 2018, when he was reinstated into the company's hall of fame.
Tributes to Hulk Hogan have aired on all WWE shows since the Hulkster's passing, including on SmackDown, Raw, and NXT. Some pro wrestling fans, however, celebrated Hogan's death on social media following his passing.
Jamar Hampton made his in-ring debut in November 2024 at an NXT house show under his real name of Troy Yearwood. He has since wrestled on WWE LFG and debuted on WWE EVOLVE in June.
