In a development quite out of nowhere, Necro Butcher has signed a Legends deal with WWE, despite having never wrestled for the company.
The legendary deathmatch wrestler made the announcement on Facebook, writing:
"I have signed a basic legends deal with the WWE. The offer actually came in the day after I walked out of my job. The timing was ridiculous. Now, the door is open for various projects, which have already been discussed. But I'm taking things slow. What does this say about my career? A man who never worked there. But he worked hard everywhere he went. And still will. I will NOT miss my scheduled shows and most definitely will NOT be making any apology videos or speeches. I've worked hard, both for myself and for my fans. Nothing was more important to me than credibility and believability. I hope this leads to more opportunities for guys who never got that call to the big time. This is OUR reward. Let's enjoy this together."
PWInsider has reported that Necro Butcher has indeed signed a WWE Legends deal and the belief is the deal was spearheaded by WWE President Nick Khan. The WWE executive was previously key in working out a deal with New Jack's estate for the ECW legend to appear in WWE 2K video games and be featured as a WWE action figure.
Necro Butcher is famous/infamous for his deathmatch wrestling exploits over a 28-year in-ring career that continues to this day. Real name Dylan Summers, the 53-year-old made his debut in 1998 and he has wrestled for the likes of IWA Mid-South, CZW, Ring of Honor, PWG, Juggalo Championship Wrestling, and XPW (where he did a MAGA Butcher gimmick).
Necro Butcher's infamous 2005 match with Samoa Joe was featured in season seven of Dark Side of the Ring earlier this year, and we at Cultaholic covered the match in the fourth episode of our Match Club series on Patreon.
