Tributes poured out across the wrestling world from the likes of Triple H, Vince McMahon, Donald Trump, and more over the last few days following the passing of Hulk Hogan. Friday Night SmackDown served as the first WWE event since news of Hogan’s death hit, so the promotion issued all their tributes across the blue brand.
WWE’s trip to Cleveland, Ohio began with a stirring video package put together by WWE’s talented production team and a ten bell salute which saw the whole SmackDown roster standing across the stage, accompanied by several legends who were close with Hogan over the years, including a teary-eyed Jimmy Hart, ‘Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase, ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan, Brian Blair, Sgt. Slaughter and Gerald Brisco. Later on in the show, Cody Rhodes also paid tribute to Hogan during a promo.
Hogan passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday, July 24 following a cardiac arrest in which he was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. News has emerged since that in the week leading up to his death, Hogan had lost the ability to speak.
