WWE Interested In CMLL Star

WWE will reportedly attempt to sign a star from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in 2026.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE are already talking about trying to bring in Persephone when her AEW-CMLL dual contract expires later this year. WWE have a longstanding interest in Persephone stretching back to Forbidden Door 2025 when the CMLL talent impressed in a four-way for the AEW TBS Championship that also featured Bozilla and Alex Windsor.

Scouting Forbidden Door proved fruitful for WWE in 2024 as Stephanie Vaquer's impressive performance in her match against Mercedes Moné led to her signing with WWE soon after. Vaquer is now one of the top talents in WWE's women's division.

Persephone signed a dual contract with AEW in January 2026. The reigning CMLL Women's World Champion is one of several CMLL stars also signed to All Elite Wrestling, including Mistico, Hechicero, and Mascara Dorada.

Another member of the CMLL women's roster recently jumped ship to the WWE-owned Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. La Catalina exited CMLL at the beginning of April after she reportedly grew unhappy with her booking. She made her AAA debut on April 11 by interrupting AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer's celebration.
