All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan has commented on WWE’s aggressive counter-programming of AEW events in 2025.
Sticking with AEW, MVP has revealed The Hurt Syndicate are open to new members to fill Cedric Alexander’s void, whilst Chelsea Green has noted how WWE could be doing more with the women’s mid-card championships.
Here’s your pro-wrestling rumour and report roundup for September 29 2025:
Tony Khan Comments On WWE Counter-Programming AEW
Tony Khan has commented on WWE’s counter-programming drive against AEW, with AEW running recent PPV events in an earlier timeslot to counter WWE’s attacks.
Speaking on AEW’s 2025, Tony Khan said the following with regards to counter-programming during an appearance on Going Ringside with Scott Johnson:
“Well, we’ve been having a great year. We’ve been able to stick and move and make it work really well for us. There’s always going to be tough competition and this sport, it’s very tough competition, the kind of competition that makes you work really hard 52 weeks a year,” Khan said.
“We would absolutely love to have Cedric, but we don’t do the hiring, and that’s a Tony Khan question. But in terms of having another member, that’s something we’ve always been open to. One of the things that we’ve said consistently is that, because of who we are and how old we are, the thought of adding another member is usually adding someone who’s younger and could benefit from the association with us. They could be elevated by us. That’s how Cedric came to be a part of us, initially.
“So at this immediate time, we haven’t had any conversations about bringing somebody new in, contrary to what’s been reported, but we are open to adding another member with the right person at the right time. We’d absolutely love to have another young member, that, hey, we need a high flyer. Shelton is too big. I don’t know if you’ve seen him lately, but he looks like he’s 280 pounds shredded. He can still move like that, but now he’s more of a tank, rather than an F-35 or whatever,” said MVP.
Chelsea Green Wants WWE To Do More With Women's Mid-card Titles
Chelsea Green is pleased with WWE’s introduction of women’s mid-card championships, but feels the company could be doing more with the titles.
Speaking with Cinemablend, the inaugural WWE Women’s united States Champion said the following about the division:
“I definitely am so happy that we introduced those titles, because I felt like for a long time we were missing opportunities for a bunch of the girls,” said Green. “We just have such a stacked roster between Raw SmackDown, NXT. I mean, now we’ve got ID, we’ve got Evolve, we’ve got LFG. We have so many different brands, and we just didn’t have enough titles to really represent all the girls and the variety of women. I think that they’ve been a beautiful addition in terms of getting people in the mix, getting women to have a spot on TV.”
Green continued; “Do I think that we’re doing all we can with them? No. I would love to see more being done with them. I want Giulia to be wrestling on TV every single week with that title. I wanted Zelina [Vega] on TV every single week. I want Michin to win the title and be on TV every single week. There’s so many hours of WWE, and we can find a place for those championships if we try. It’s tough.”
Natalya Explains The Mindset Of Nattie Neidhart
Natalya’s rebirth as Nattie Neidhart on the independent scene has been heralded by fans and industry professionals alike, and the WWE veteran has explained the difference between her character in WWE and the one we’ve seen tearing it up on the Indies.
Speaking with Ring the Belle, Natalya noted how ‘Nattie Neidhart’ is a more aggressive vigilante compared to the multi-time WWE Women’s Champion:
“I think everybody has two different sides. You know, first of all, I’m a Gemini. So Geminis have two different personalities. The thing about Natalya is that she’s gonna be a team player. She’s safe. She wants to help everybody. She wants to elevate. She survived a lot. She survived an era when women’s wrestling wasn’t always encouraged, but she did whatever she had to do to survive. Nattie, I have no sympathy for the weak, and I’m like a vigilante. When it comes to when the bell rings, everybody can go f*** themselves.”
After his WWE exit in May 2025, Braun Strowman has stayed away from the wrestling ring, and it seems he’s been eyeing up a visit to Camp Crystal Lake.
The former WWE Universal Champion has stated he’s ‘semi-retired’ from the ring, and when talking with Collider about horror movies whilst promoting his part in the upcoming Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, Strowman revealed he wants to don Jason Voorhees’ infamous hockey mask:
“Oh, Friday the 13th, Jason,” Strowman said when asked what horror franchise he’d like to star in. “There may be some talks about it with people that I know in my agency, and if we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the license to work, I might be the next Voorhees… He’s my number one slasher.”
Bryan Danielson 'More Content' With Retirement This Time Round
Bryan Danielson hung up his boots almost one-year ago with defeat to Jon Moxley at AEW WrestleDream 2024, and the multi-time world champion has revealed he is feeling content in retirement… this time round.
Danielson was originally forced to retire in 2016 due to health issues, before making a full recovery and mounting an in-ring return from 2018 until 2024. Now part of AEW’s commentary team, Danielson revealed to Wide World of Sports how he is feeling about retirement second time round:
“I feel infinitely more content, honestly, my life has changed and it’s different when it’s your own decision as opposed to when you’re not allowed to do this thing that you love anymore.”
Danielson continued, noting how travel isn’t the most comfortable experience in the world: “Not great, the travel isn’t great for my neck, that’s one of the things that has started to become hard. There are days that are good, but there are days that are less good. I would mostly frame it that even though I’m in physical discomfort, I’m pretty happy.”
