A new TBS Champion will need to be crowned as Willow Nightingale relinquished the title on the May 20 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Nightingale appeared in a backstage segment on Dynamite and announced she was vacating the AEW TBS Championship and giving up her spot in the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament due to injury. Nightingale revealed she suffered the injury during her TBS Title defence against Red Velvet on the May 16 episode of AEW Collision.

The relinquishment ends Willow Nightingale's second AEW TBS Title reign after 140 days. She had been champion since defeating Mercedes Moné at New Year's Smash on December 31, 2025 and Nightingale successfully defended the title on 10 occasions, primarily spending her reign defeating wrestlers in their comeback matches, including Hikaru Shida, Anna Jay, Queen Aminata, and Kamille.

Willow Nightingale was previously booked to face Alex Windsor in the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament at Double or Nothing. Nightingale's spot has been filled by a wild card entrant, while Athena vs. Mina Shirakawa will now take place at the May 24 pay-per-view.

Nightingale made her AEW debut in April 2021 and it was announced in October 2022 she had signed with the promotion. In addition to her two TBS Title reigns, Willow was one-half of the inaugural AEW Women's World Tag Team Champions with Harley Cameron as the Babes of Wrath.
