When Sheamus Will Become A Free Agent Following WWE Contract Expiry

Sheamus isn't quite out of WWE yet, it has been revealed.

Fightful Select has reported that Sheamus will become a free agent on October 1. The exact circumstances around him not being a free agent until the autumn is unknown but Fightful noted it would line up with Sheamus having a 90-day termination period after rejecting a restructured contract offer from WWE.

It was revealed in early July that Sheamus would be leaving WWE upon the expiry of his contract. WWE had asked Sheamus to take a pay cut while he was on the shelf due to injury, an offer which Sheamus rejected, with the situation said to be similar to The New Day's WWE releases following WrestleMania 42.

The 48-year-old's post-WWE pro wrestling future is unknown but the belief is Sheamus would welcome the idea of wrestling for AEW, even on a short-term basis, should the right situation present itself.

October 1 will end Sheamus' 19-year association with WWE, where he became a four-time world champion in the company. Sheamus has already said goodbye to WWE, though, and he has rebranded himself as S. Farrelly, with his real name being Stephen Farrelly.
