Reigning Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer emerged on this week’s January 5 edition of Monday Night RAW in a walking boot, cutting a promo before being attacked by Raquel Rodriguez. There was some worry raised amongst fans online over the status of Vaquer given that Rodriguez targeted the ankle of the Women’s World Champion in a spot that some assumed would be to write her off television. There is an update on the condition of Vaquer, clearing up whether she’s legitimately injured.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has revealed that Vaquer does in fact have a legitimate injury, explaining the walking boot on RAW. There is no current indication on how severe the injury actually is, but it is noted that it is believed to be an ankle sprain, and she has been cleared for contact.
As of this writing, WWE have not made any form of announcement on Vaquer relinquishing the championship or being out of action for an extended period of time, suggesting that the severity of it may have been overplayed on the show, and that Vaquer could be back in time to not have to give away her gold, falling in line with reports earlier this week.
