Update On Johnny Gargano's WWE Status

Johnny Gargano has been on the receiving end of some interesting booking in recent weeks, being sent into a depressive and unresponsive state due to Axiom winning back his mask from Gargano, who had previously stolen it. After delivering a promo about getting back to being his true self and one of the best wrestlers on the planet, Gargano was then squashed in a matter of minutes by Oba Femi, leading to some online speculation about his future. This also comes after former tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa parted ways with WWE and signed with AEW.

In the days following the episode of SmackDown in which he lost to Femi, there were some cryptic social media posts by Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae, raising speculation that he could be on his way out of WWE. Fightful Select has provided some insight into his current status with WWE.

WWE sources have revealed that Gargano is “firmly under contract” at this moment in time, so don’t expect him to show up in AEW to join his partner at any point in the immediate future. It is noted that there isn’t a whole lot of meaning to this statement, though it is the WWE current line on Gargano’s status.
