Update On AJ Lee's WWE Status

AJ Lee might not be completely finished inside the squared circle.

AJ Lee hasn't made an appearance for WWE since WrestleMania 42 but Fightful Select has reported that those they have spoken to believe she hasn't wrestled her last match. There is no word on when exactly AJ Lee will wrestle again, however.

There was speculation that Lee would be involved in the storyline of The Bella Twins against Paige after the duo turned on the former Saraya at SummerSlam, but Fightful noted people in WWE creative never heard that Lee was planned for the angle and the actual wrestlers involved hadn't been told what the plan for the programme was as of when Brie Bella got injured during the trios match at SummerSlam.

The plan is for the feud to continue with just Nikki Bella and Paige, with the programme set to accelerate on Friday's SmackDown.

AJ Lee had previously been retired from in-ring action for 10 years but she returned in September 2025. Lee then embarked on a long-running programme with Becky Lynch that concluded with Lynch regaining the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship from Lee at WrestleMania.

After WWE's biggest weekend of the year, the former Divas Champion noted "this is not goodbye, but I'll see you soon, I hope."
