Tony Khan's Reaction To WBD's Sale To Paramount Revealed

Although it isn’t directly impacting any professional wrestling as we speak, the ramifications could eventually be felt by the recent news that Warner Bros. Discovery will not be getting sold to Netflix, and will now be heading the way of being purchased by Paramount. The initial planned Netflix move for WBD was not believed to directly impact AEW in the short term despite WWE’s ongoing deal with Netflix, though it seems as though this different direction for WBD is something that is welcomed by those in AEW.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Tony Khan’s reaction is said to be a positive one following this news, with it being noted by those close to him that he is ‘thrilled’ with the sale. The reason for this is due to the fact that he felt like it was the best possible scenario, though it isn’t clear if this is meant to be in reference to AEW or WBD overall.

It was revealed over the last month that WBD owned a minority stake in AEW, so any sale to a new company could pose some questions on both ends when it comes to AEW’s future.
