Street Fighter is set for a return to the silver screen, with the legendary beat-em-up series primed for a new major motion picture, with former WWE Champion Roman Reigns rumoured to be in talks over appearing in the project.

Deadline originally reported that Reigns (alongside Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, and Noah Centineo) is in talks over a starring role in a reboot of the classic franchise, and a report from Fightful Select states that ‘The Tribal Chief’ is in talks to play Akuma.

If true, then such casting would certainly be out of left-field, with Akuma a Japanese demi-God in the series, a demon who is one of the series’ most powerful characters. Momoa is rumoured to be portraying Blanka, whilst Koji and Centineo are in line to portray series protagonists Ryu and Ken, respectively.

The upcoming Street Fighter project will be the third live-action theatrical release for the series, following on from cult classic Street Fighter (1994) and the critically panned Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li (2009). There have also been several other adaptations of the Street Fighter IP, including a critically acclaimed anime motion picture in 1994.
