The status of Seth Rollins is up in the air right now, as reports have gone back and forth on the legitimacy of the injury he suffered at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a match with LA Knight. Some reports have claimed Rollins is truly injured, others have claimed the injury actually came before the show and the one on SNME was a work, and there have also been reports that Rollins isn’t injured at all.
The latest word for Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is that Rollins’ injury angle was planned in advance, and that this will play into his plans to cash-in the Money In The Bank contract. Meltzer notes that multiple people in WWE have claimed that the plan was for an injury angle to take place on Saturday Night’s Main Event, keeping Rollins off TV before he shockingly returned at SummerSlam 2025 to cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase, doing so in the Gunther vs. CM Punk World Heavyweight Championship match. The storyline for this would be that Rollins & Heyman outsmarted everyone.
Of course, there are no concrete answers due to the murkiness surrounding news of Rollins’ injury, and it remains to be seen if he does in fact cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase when WWE heads to the MetLife Stadium for SummerSlam 2025.
