Roman Reigns has suggested Cody Rhodes was the reason the two men were kept apart on the set of the Street Fighter movie, insinuating that it was done at the request of the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion.

This comes after Cody Rhodes noted during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet on March 13 that people on set looked to keep him and Roman Reigns away from each other.

"We had one day on set. The way the set was, and he can probably reiterate this, I think they thought we were going to fight or have issues because they were very cognisant on the radios of, 'Stepping out with Guile. Akuma will be coming on.' They were very cognisant of we would not cross paths. We did because I had to tell him the direction of one of the trailers. And that was our only moment, and it was a very awkward, like the weirdest. That's a crazy relationship. I have nothing but admiration for what he's done and accomplished. I don't know what it is. I don't even like talking about it because I don't know what it is. It's just a very strange relationship. I don't know if there's a difference [between Joe Anoa'i and Roman Reigns]," Cody said.

Reigns has now responded to Cody's comments on TMZ Sports, adding: "I heard that and the rumour is that he was requesting that. He was a little nervous that I was showing up, because he got there before me and there was only a couple of days of crossover. You know what it is. The Tribal Chief comes to town and he gets a little nervous. He don't know what to do."

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns have been connected on WWE programming since Cody returned to the company in 2022. They have faced off in three WrestleMania main events, twice over the Undisputed WWE Universal Title in singles action at WrestleMania 39 and WrestleMania 40 night two, and once in a tag team match with Seth Rollins and The Rock at WrestleMania 40 night one.

Rhodes and Reigns have since teamed together, but their confrontation following WarGames at Survivor Series 2025 was scheduled to be the precursor to another WrestleMania main event match at WrestleMania 42. Those plans were ultimately scrapped, though, and Reigns will instead challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 42 night two, while Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Title against Randy Orton in the night one main event.

The Street Fighter movie is set to be released in October 2026. Roman Reigns will star as Akuma, while Cody Rhodes will portray Guile.
