Report: WWE Strongly Considering Booking Dominik Mysterio To Win Another Title

Current Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio is reportedly being considered for another championship win by WWE.

The third generation star is riding a crest of a wave of popularity in WWE, and a report from WrestleVotes Radio suggests that WWE could be looking to give ‘Dirty Dom’ a major championship win in AAA:

“We’re told WWE is strongly considering putting the AAA Mega Championship around Dominik Mysterio’s waist. The idea of AAA’s top champion also appearing weekly on Netflix is said to be appealing to all sides involved.”

The Mega Championship is currently held by El Hijo del Vikingo, with Vikingo kicking off his second reign with the title on May 31, 2025 with victory over Alberto El Patron. Whilst Dominik’s father, Rey Mysterio, competed for AAA in the 1990s, he has never held the championship, with the belt introduced in 2007.

Mysterio is set to compete for the Mega Championship at TripleMania XXXIII in August, with El Grande Americano and Dragon Lee joining Dominik and Vikingo in a four-way match for the gold.

Dominik Mysterio kicked off his first reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 41 night two with victory in a fatal four-way match. Mysterio is set to put the title on the line against AJ Styles at WWE SummerSlam 2025.
