Dating back to 2024, there have been reports of WWE’s awareness on the topic of black representation in the company, most notably when it comes to the men’s division. Ahead of Bad Blood 2024, it was noted that the use of Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair and Naomi as PLE hosts was to tackle the lack of black wrestlers on the card. WWE is now reportedly seeking to firmly overcome the perception of Triple H not pushing black talent.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer explained that there was a heavier focus on black talent in recent tryouts, with several black wrestlers included in the lineup of male talents, the full list including; Starboy Charlie, Leon Lokombo, LaBron Kozone, Manny Lo, Jariel Rivera, Manny House, Jack Pasquale, Blade Brown, Tyler Jordan, Jeremiah Lakheani, James Karnik, Bruss Hamilton, Ben Finnesseth, and Bhupinder Gujjar. Additionally, it was noted that the recent call-ups of Oba Femi, Trick Williams, and Je’Von Evans all at the same time are to try and tackle this criticism towards Triple H.
Back in 2024, when challenged on this topic, Triple H made the comment that he doesn’t see colour, in turn sparking even more criticism.
