WWE are officially in the Lucha Libre business with their purchase of AAA, and it seems the company has a big supershow planned for the Mexican market.
AAA and WWE NXT are set to run Worlds Collide in Los Angeles on June 7, but a report from WrestleVotes Radio states that WWE are planning to head into Mexico itself for a series of shows:
“Sources indicate there are plans in the near future for WWE to return to Mexico with three major live events all centred around a show titled ‘Supershow Mexico’. Details passed that remain sparse, with dates and the locations yet to be confirmed. Of course, this comes off the heels of WWE purchasing the legendary Mexican promotion AAA, which should see some involvement in this Supershow Mexico.”
The report seems to indicate that these shows will be WWE branded rather than the first major glimpses at a AAA under WWE’s auspices. We have already seen the first glimpses of AAA being involved with WWE programming, with El Hijo del Vikingo physically getting involved with Rey Fenix’s match with El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41, mere hours after the formal announcement of WWE and AAA’s partnership.
