Wrestlers signed to the WWE ID programme are now reportedly blocked from using their independent wrestling names for any appearances outside of WWE and they must use their WWE names for all bookings moving forward.
That is according to Bodyslam, who reported that independent wrestlers signed to a WWE ID contract are no longer able to use their independent wrestling names. This means the likes of Starboy Charlie, Notorious Mimi, Jimmy House, and Airica Demia will have to be billed as Chazz Hall, Sloane Jacobs, CJ Valor, and Anya Rune, respectively, even for appearances outside of WWE and WWE-affiliated promotions.
Until now, WWE ID talents had been able to use both their WWE name and indy name for bookings, Starboy Charlie, for example, wrestled under that name while performing at independent wrestling events over WrestleMania 42 weekend, but he has competed as Chazz Hall on WWE EVOLVE, NXT, and TNA IMPACT.
The WWE ID programme was established in late 2024 and effectively gives WWE the right of first refusal on signing any of the wrestlers contracted to the programme to full-time deals. WWE also provides support to select training schools and indy wrestlers as part of the scheme.
