Report: AEW Rejected Tay Melo Release Request

A member of the AEW women's division was denied their release from All Elite Wrestling, it has been revealed.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Tay Melo asked to be released by AEW at some point in 2025 but the request was rejected. There is no word on why Melo asked to be let go, nor why AEW denied the request.

Tay Melo has been a part of All Elite Wrestling since August 2020 and she has spent the vast majority of her run in the TayJay tag team with Anna Jay, although Melo was also linked on-screen with real-life husband Sammy Guevara in 2022 and 2023.

Melo was absent from AEW TV for two years from May 2023 until June 2025, initially due to her pregnancy and raising her and Guevara's daughter, but she was actually cleared for an in-ring return in August 2024 and was simply not used by AEW until the following year. The 31-year-old has only been booked sporadically by AEW since then, wrestling 17 matches across AEW Dynamite, Collision, and pay-per-view over the past 13 months.

Sammy Guevara's own future with All Elite Wrestling is currently a mystery, although speculation about his AEW status was fuelled after the three-time TNT Champion removed any mention of AEW from his X/Twitter bio on July 19.
